Make a Wish for More Resilience and Courage

Celebrating the timeliness of two book birthdays
6

Today is the 5th “book birthday” for Resilient Threads: Weaving Joy & Meaning into Well-Being by Dr. Mukta Panda (see her substack, Resilient Reflections). Mukta agreed to be the first author of Creative Courage Press, and we launched her memoir just as COVID-19 was launching its disruption into the world. Her book is still so relevant today!

Today also happens to be the 7th book birthday for The Courage Way: Leading & Living with Integrity (Berrett-Koehler, 2018). It contains the lived wisdom of over 120 leaders (including Mukta) who I interviewed for the Center for Courage & Renewal as I was writing the book.

Happy Book Birthdays to Resilient Threads and The Courage Way.

Mukta and I met in 2012 when I first started work at the Center and she was a new facilitator. Part of her life & leadership story (and those of two of her medical residents) appears in chapter 6 of The Courage Way, “The Courage to Care for True Self.” Below are two pics of us together in person, a rare event living so far apart. We’ve come a long way in all these years of creative, collaborative friendship!

My mission for Creative Courage Press is “creating more courage for the complexity of being human.” I’m honored to collaborate with authors who exemplify courage of all kinds.

🤗🎂 SO MAKE A WISH for more resilience and courage as we face the destruction happening now. It’s time for power of the people to do as both books’ subtitles offer: weave joy and meaning into well-being and live & lead with integrity.

🎶 As the Instagram reel’s accompanying music by Wookiefoot says “the world’s on fire, the situation’s dire, a lot of work and courage gonna be required” but I’m just happy to be here to play my own small part by publishing books that bring more courage into these times. 💕🎂🎉🤗 (🎶 Listen to the full uplifting song here.)

What is fortifying you with more courage these days?
